Unformatted text preview: Uganda Let's discuss Uganda. No, not in that way . Country in East Africa and a former British colony. Ethnically diverse, with quite a few South Asians in the country. The most notable Ugandan has to be Idi Amin, who pretty much wrote the book on being an African dictator. Killed between 80,000 and 500,000 people before being deposed after starting a war with Tanzania. Oft-depicted in the West at the time as a rather comical figure, he ended up awarding himself the title of: "His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea, and Conqueror of the British Empire ["CBE"] in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular." He also declared himself the king of Scotland, hence the film The Last King of Scotland . A rebel organization called the Lord's Resistance Army used to control Northern Uganda.
