Avni Dalal English 101 20 September 2011 First Draft: A Mother’s Sacrifice Melissa Ann Pinney stated that “Although I have always been drawn to what is hidden especially concerning women’s experiences, I couldn’t say for certain that I would have recognized the secluded diaper-changing scene at Disney World as a possible subject until my daughter, Emma, was born.” Though this quote describing her feelings about this picture may seem obvious, the simple picture Pinney has captured of the diaper-changing station in Disney World shows how society takes a mother’s role for granted. In Pinney’s picture, Disney World, mothers and children are shown being crowded in a small, poorly lit diaper-changing room. Though we would ignore this situation and actually think of this congested area as a nuisance, for a mother it is a constant struggle to provide her child with comfort.
