Shweta Patro 9/16/09 Mrs. Morelli Free Write It’s a beautiful day outside. The sky is brilliant, the clouds are perfect little clusters of marshmallows and the sun is all over. I am very happy to be able to work outside. This (work) will only happen if I stop admiring the environment, and focus on Embracing Contraries. The title itself is something to think about, because it has dual meaning. Embracing Contraries might be an essay about readers accepting contraries, or both sides of an issue. But it also might be an essay about how two different things can work together to create a piece of writing. The essay was an analysis of the interactions and differences between first order, or intuitive thinking and second order, or critical thinking. I found it interesting, because, in reading it, I indentified many deficiencies in my writing process. One skill that I need to work on is the translation of abstract ideas into cohesive, understandable sentences. This seems, from its description, like something that a kindergartener should know
