Impacts of Risk in Supply Chain Management 3 Supply Chain is today one of the main critical areas in the company. There are many companies that went out the market for a wrong supply chain strategy. An error could be that companies maintain the same supply chain even when their businesses are changing. Another cause for a failed supply chain is the reengineering of their software. A company who is implementing an ERP for example, will have to change its supply chain strategy if the investment that they do in the ERP fail and push the company into a bankruptcy. Supply Chain is a sensitive area that will have an important impact if a wrong decision is taken. The purpose of this paper is to study the different risk that the companies should be aware and the several impacts that those risks have and most of the companies do not know. I could dare to say that Supply Chain is an area that can emerge a company or finish it. A wrong supply chain could be devastating. Companies that have thousands of different products or that their rotational level of products is high, have to be aware of the different risk they have around in this area. This is an area that is in evolution. It has to keep growing. There is no company that is willing to go back 10 years ago in the way they did businesses. Supply Chain has a similar behavior. It cannot be an area that functions in the same way than 10 years ago. Businesses changes and supply chain management strategies also. Corporations need to understand this. When companies grow and the supply chain is the same, there is a higher risk in not supply the demand needed. After this the problems start to show up. It is better that companies understand the risks that supply chain implies, what impact they will have in their businesses and depending on the business, what to do. This paper tries to show the reader an understanding in the supply chain area and what are the risks that this area has. Background The Nature of the Risk
