2008 Summer C CHM 2211 ORGANIC CHEMISTRY 2 Section 7372 Instructor: Dr. Sukwon Hong, Chemistry Research Building 328B, 392-6787, [email protected] Required Text: L. G. Wade, Jr., Organic Chemistry , 6 th Edition Recommended: J. W. Simek, Solution Manual, Organic Chemistry , 6 th Edition and a modeling kit Lecture: MWF 2 nd period (9:30 – 10:35 a.m.) in CLB 130 Homework: The recommended study problems will not be graded or collected. However, it is very important to read the book and work the recommended problems by yourself to be successful in the course. Progress Exams: May. 28 th (Wed), Jun. 20 th (Fri), and July. 25 th (Fri) during class period Final Exam: August 8 th (Fri) during class period Office Hours: MWF (1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.) in CRB 340 (not CLB) E-Learning System - updated regularly with announcements, lecture notes, exam scores, the course syllabus, problem assignments, practice material, and handouts Teaching Assistants: Organic Chemistry Learning Center (Flint 258): TAs are always available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. –4:00 p.m. Check WebCT Vista for specific schedule. Attendance and Classroom Etiquette : If you come to the class, make sure to be there on time. If you come late on exam days you will not be given additional time. If you are in class please be respectful of others. Hats may not be worn during exams. Cell phone use is strictly prohibited at all times in the lecture auditorium . Course Grading Policies Points : During the semester, three 60-minute exams (100 points each) and a cumulative final exam (150 points) will be given. Three progress exams* 300 possible points Final exam 150 points Total points possible 450 points * NO DROP POLICY. You must take all three progress exams and all three exam scores will be included in your final grade. * NO MAKE-UP PROGRESS EXAMS WILL BE GIVEN.
