Research Methodology Paper 2 Christopher Shomo, Christopher Wadley Definition of Target Population In our attempt to gain further knowledge of whether there is a difference between men and women in terms of fan motivation we have assembled a survey to further the discussion . Considering the population refers to the entire group of people of interest to the researcher , our target population will be college students/young adults ages eighteen to twenty-five . Especially at Temple University , as well as the other several city colleges, students are often drawn to the attraction of attending live sporting events . By conducting this survey on this specific target population we will be able to gain insight on why these people choose to attend or not attend these events . With this information , valuable insight will be given toward this subject .

Although it could be beneficial to include other target populations such as middle aged or senior men and women , college students are extremely abundant in the city of Philadelphia and can be easily reached for their input . Another reason we have chose this sampling frame is because these college students will be the individuals who are spending money at sporting events for the next several decades . If an organization can find a reason why people choose or choose not to attend sporting events , then it will be beneficial to them for years to come . Sampling Frame The sampling frame for conducting our survey will be found from two different areas . The first , as suggested in class, is the Cherry and White Directory. By using this , emails of our fellow classmates are easily accessible and we will be able to deliver our survey directly to their inbox . This is extremely convenient because we will be able to send it to a plethora of students . By doing this we can be certain that we will be able to receive a large enough pool of surveys . By sending it out to a large group of people our data will be more accurate . Our second method of sampling frame will be conducted through the use of the popular social-networking site , Facebook. Facebook will be used by both of us by simply requesting to our friends who fit our target population to complete the survey that we will make available to them via the internet . By being able to select the people whom we want to complete our survey we can avoid coverage error . We can be one hundred percent certain that the people we have asked to fill out our survey are in fact between the ages of eighteen

and twenty-five . By surveying our friends on Facebook , we are able to screen possible respondents with certain characteristics (mainly age) to make sure that there is no coverage error in our target population . In today’s world of technological advancement
