Final Project: Psychological Disorder Analysis 2 Final Project: Psychological Disorder Analysis After reviewing the Faces of Abnormal Psychology Interactive Application, I have concluded that Marla suffers from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Although most ADHD is diagnosed in childhood, if left untreated, it can affect an adult in much of the same ways it affects children. In this case, it seems that Marla developed ADHD as a child, but unfortunately her disorder went untreated. Marla’s symptoms are interfering with her work and personal life, as she is unable to concentrate, has trouble sleeping and is very restless. Marla’s ADHD is due to both biological and sociocultural factors. Marla is an accountant and this contributes to her inability to focus because she is repetitive in her work. Marla may find this type of work very boring because she has to sit still at her desk and this may contribute to her feeling jumpy. Feeling jumpy is a symptom commonly contributed to ADHD. In addition, Marla’s restlessness may be the major factor in her trouble sleeping. Marla’s mind may have trouble shutting down for the evening due to the events of the day. Marla’s mind keeps racing from one thought to the next because her inability to focus on one situation, and before she realizes, it is time to begin the next day with little or no sleep. In Marla’s clinical assessment, relevant information will be gathered by asking Marla specific questions much like an interview process. By answering the clinical interview questions, deeper information can be collected and treatment can begin. The clinical interview questions developed in Week 4 consisted of the following: 1. What is your purpose for this session today? 2. What is the most important thing to you today and why? 3. When you were a child what were your three favorite things to do? 4.
