The heart rates measured in beats/min, of a random sample of BME 423 students are: 48, 64, 56, 68, 72, 78, 36, 92, 88, 78, 80, and 84 (n = 12) Calculate the following: Sample mean Sample median Sample variance Sample standard deviation Range 25 th , 50 th , and 75 th percentiles Standard error of the mean (SEM) b. The above sample was taken from a population of 71 students (the BME 423 class). Estimate the mean and standard deviation for the heights of the whole population.
