HST 102 1/25/11 Firs slide- frontier theories - The winning of the west- book written by Theodore Roosevelt. - 2 nd slide- frontier myths -In the late 19 th century, people believed that the west was a place where people can remake the united states. - Many people believed that the west was a place to basically live the American dream. - People believed the west was a place where people didn’t need big government. They could live off of themselves. 3 rd slide- the map - everything on 2 nd slide it BS. - Western states had the best tax benefits and returns. - 4 th slide- William F. Cody - 5 th slide- “buffalo bill” - William F Cody is better known has “buffalo bill” - A novel was written based off of him. - Many short stories were written based of of him. - Due to Cody’s famousness, he becomes an actor and participates in shows.
