Step 6: Developing the Message Strategy Publics- groups of people in relationship with your organization Audience- people who receive the messages  Information Model Focuses on the content and channels of communication o Message sent by a source to a receiver, with ideas encoded and  interpreted through symbols    Mathematical theory of communication o linear model with tangible date encoded and transmitted through a  channel to a receiver  Cybernetic model of communication o Involves feedback form the receiver to influence the sender  Persuasion Model Attempts to influence people, using ethical means that enhance a democratic  society o An organization presents its point of view in an attempt to convince its  publics to give their agreement and support   Dialogue Model Deeply conscious interaction of two parties in communication  o Mutual understanding  o Four Goals 1. Provide for an information exchange between individuals or groups 2. Help communication partners make responsible and personally  acceptable decisions 3. Help receive the original vitality of a relationship 4. Foster a deep relationship that continues to unite communication  partners ever more closely  o Management Practices Consensus building:  process of identifying and then preventing  or overcoming barriers between people and or organizations Conflict resolution:  involves making peace and restoring  harmony Rhetorical Tradition
