Megan Bartlett October 20, 2011 Theory Assignment Fights Campus Rape: Theory of Reasoned Action The goal of the theory of reasoned action is focused on behavior as the outcome rather than attitude change. This page is trying to persuade the audience to get involved in their campaign “to fight rape on campus by improving your college’s sexual-assault policy” (Daly, 200). There are two factors that predict and influence the intention to perform behavior, which are the attitude toward behavior and subjective norm. The attitude toward behavior , or the attitude in question, in terms of this example, is the readers’ attitude towards getting involved on campus in fighting campus rape. In this example, the subjective norm , or the social pressure to perform or not perform a behavior, is the pressure that college students feel from other college students to get involved. The message describes how the University of New Hampshire has become actively involved for the fight against sexual violence. This in turns makes the readers who see this
