CS 217A (Lixia Zhang ): Homework 6 Problem 1 Problem 1 When a BGPv4 update message specifies that a single route is being withdrawn, and the prefix length indicator for that route is 0 what effect does the message have? Problem 2 How does BGPv4 indicate that an attribute is mandatory in its messages? Problem 3 Can mandatory messages be partial? In either case (yes or no), how is this indicated in the wire-format. Problem 4 What happens if the BGPv4 Hold Time of a session is set to 0? Problem 5 If a router in AS A gets a BGPv4 update message from a neighboring AS B that has a MULTI EXIT DISC attribute on it, and the attribute indicates that B prefers a different router in B (i.e. not the router that sent the current message). Should this router take any action? If so, what? Problem 6 In the case where 2 BGP routers attempt to connect to each other at the same time, what does BGPv4 do?
