COURSE INFORMATION – MA 22400 Spring 2011 HOMEWORK AND QUIZZES: Homework will be submitted online, using a program called MathZone. (More information on this will be provided next week.) Only the MathZone coordinator can extend the deadline or excuse an online homework. There will be frequent quizzes, possibly more than once a week. No make-up quizzes will be given. Only your instructor can excuse a quiz. Requests to have deadlines extended and/or work excused must be made at the time of your absence . No consideration will be given to requests made after that time. EXAMS There are two in-class midterm exams, one evening midterm exam and a final exam. The two in-class midterm exams are written and graded by your instructor, with partial credit being possible. The evening midterm exam is a course-wide, multiple-choice, machine-graded exam written by the course coordinator. The final exam is a course-wide, comprehensive, 25-question, multiple-choice, machine-graded exam, also written by the course coordinator. The dates of the midterm exams are as follows. ( Mark them on your calendar.) EXAM 1: in class exam on February 4. EXAM 2: evening exam in the Elliott Hall of Music on March 7 at 8:00 p.m. ALT EXAM 2: March 10 at 6:00 p.m. EXAM 3: in class exam on April 11. FINAL EXAM: date, time and room to be announced. If you have a class or exam conflict with Exam 2 or the Final, you should contact your instructor before the exam . You will be allowed to take an alternate exam without any penalty. If you miss any exam, contact your instructor immediately to explain your absence. You should be prepared to present documentation about your absence to your instructor. Without documentation, you may or may not be allowed to take an alternate exam. If you are allowed to, there may be a 20 point penalty.
