Louisiana State University Mechanical Engineering Department ME 2733- Materials of Engineering; Spring 2005 (Section 1) Syllabus and Time Table Instructor: Assist. Prof. Dorel Moldovan Office: 2504 CEBA Telephone: 578-6488 e-mail: [email protected] Office hours: M, W 2:00pm - 3:00pm Objectives: Introductory expose to engineering materials and their applications. Apply basic principles of physics, mathematics, and chemistry to develop an understanding of the general characteristics of different classes of materials. Lecture Meetings: M, W, F 11:40 – 12:30, room 132 J. C. Miller Homework: About 10 individual assignments throughout the semester. Homeworks will be assigned Mondays and are due one week latter. Examinations: One mid-term examination, two quizzes, one small individual project, and a final examination (see course outline for schedule). Quizzes are closed book and notes. Mid-term and final examinations will be in class and will consist in two parts; first part will be closed book and notes and the second part will be open book and notes.
