What is the importance of interpersonal skills ? - At the workplace, well-developed interpersonal skills are crucial because they help managers attract and keep high-performing employees. Pleasant atmosphere at work reduces stress and, as a result, lowers intentions to quit and increases chances of hiring qualified employees. 2. What do managers do in terms of function, roles, and skills ? - (1) There are four types of management functions in today’s business industry: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. While planning , managers define an organization’s goal, establish strategy for achieving the goals, and develop plans to coordinate activities. While organizing , managers determine the tasks to be done, allocate responsibilities among staff, define the ways of grouping the tasks, find out who report to whom, and analyze the decisions to be made. While leading , managers motivate employees, determine the ways of effective communication, and resolve conflicts within an organization. While controlling
