Inpatient and Outpatient Services 1 Inpatient and Outpatient Hospital Services Inpatient hospital services included patient who experience an overnight stay in the facility. The inpatient hospital services are provided by skilled nursing facilities, long-term care facilities, specialized hospitals as well as general hospitals. Inpatient facilities have been conventional supplied with the necessary equipment to provide a patient with a comfortable overnight stay if required (Valerius et al., 2008). Outpatient services are provided by Hospital emergency rooms, which is the type of outpatient facility that most individuals are familiar with. However, other facilities provide outpatient services to certain patient as well such as Hospice, and ambulatory surgical centers, and home health agencies (Valerius et al., 2008). Once a patient is admitted into the hospital and begins receiving care, the hospital’s computer system follows every service that the patient receives in each department. For example,
