Claire Tu Professor Barbee Discussion 1C 10 March 2010 Education 92F Journal Entry #10 I can’t believe this is the tenth journal entry; the quarter system goes by so fast. I’ve been sick the last two weeks, but I’m finally starting to feel better. When I went to the Ashe Center last week, I saw the student’s protest at Bruin Plaza. I’m not the type of person who would join a protest; however, I do agree with the student protesters. The state of California has made way too many education cuts, forcing our university to offer fewer classes. I along with many of my friends had so much difficulty enrolling in classes for spring quarter. There are fewer lectures being offered, and class sizes have increased. I was trying to get into Society and Genetics 102W to meet both GE and Writing II requirement. However, the class filled up during the graduating seniors pass! I called the Student Affairs Officer for the Society and Genetics Department to ask if they will be offering the class fall of this year. He explained to me that due to budget cuts, they would
