Nature & Purpose of CVs 1 Get prepared!!! 2 Types of CVs 3 Content & Sections 4 Formatting and styles 5 1- Nature and Purpose of CV: Two main questions are to be highlighted: What? (essence) & Why? (purpose) There is no standard CV!! Think like a tailor !!! A CV is an advertisement of yourself a good marketing analysis of the customer (recruiter) and his sensitivity to your communication is required! Common point: limited time to get your message across (almost 20 seconds!!) The CV is an intricate part of the interview, as the initial opning of the conversation you have with the recruite the CV must be a concise synopsis of what you have done in the past and why you need to work for that specific company. 2- Prepare to write your CV: Before you start writing your CV, get prepared! Ask yourself these questions and search for possible answers: What information should be included in your CV? : 1. What do you know about the recruiter/ company? You need to find out everything about the company you are applying to. You need to know about the 2. What do you know about the job/ position ? You need to find out everything you can about the job you are applying for. You need to know about the job requirements, description.. 3. What do you know about yourself? You need to find out everything you can about yourself . Think like a salesman! Make a complete list of your skills, experience, and education then compare them with those that the job requires! Make a clear link between the company, the job and yourself. 3. Types of CVs: There are four basic types: A. The chronological CV: the best known structure. When to USE a chnological CV: There is a limited number of jobs All the jobs are in the same field Showing promotion into ever greater responsibility The educational background is relatively unimoprtant to your current career goals There is no missing years When...
