Morgan Bailey HDF 113L Paper #1 Mb33295 Morgan Bailey HDF 113L Buck HDF 113L Lab Paper #1 Reinforcement The interaction : All of the kids were anxiously waiting to get bikes out of the shed, but it wasn’t time yet. Once told it was time, a few of the kids got very excited and started saying “it’s time to get bikes” numerous times. One of the kids specifically, Max, asked one of the teachers to get one. She told him “yes Max, because you were patient, you may get a bike out of the shed.”(observer notes pg. 2). The actor : In this interaction, the main actor I focused on was a little boy named Max. The learning principle : In this interaction the learning principle at work is positive reinforcement. Positive reinforcement is the learning principle whereby a particular behavior is praised and will increase the likelihood of that behavior occurring again in the near future, according to BF Skinner. (Textbook pg. 10) The eliciting stimulus : Prior to asking to get a bike out of the shed, I watched Max just sit off to the side as the kids were anxiously awaiting the time to get the bikes out so they could ride them around the track. (Obs. Notes pg 2) The eliciting stimulus in this situation could be the fact that Max thought that if he waiting patiently while the other kids were excited about it, he would be rewarded just as much as they were once the time came to get the bikes out.
