Do they interfere constructively or destructively with each other if a.) they travel the same distance and neither have a phase shift? If they travel the same distance and have no phase shift, they are still in phase and so they interfere constructively. b.) one ray travels 5.00cm and the other travels 15.00cm and neither have a phase shift? The path difference between the two is 15.00cm - 5.00cm = 10.00cm , which is exactly two complete wavelengths. This means the waves are still in phase, and so they interfere constructively. c.) one ray travels 7.50cm and the other travels 15.00cm and neither have a phase shift? The path difference between the two is 15.00cm – 7.50cm = 7.50cm , which is one and one-half wavelengths.
