Kunal Munshani The issue we face today is basically one of environment destruction. California as a whole has expanded and in doing so has displaced and disturbed many native inhabitants including the steelhead trout. The trout run up the old alameda creek. The Alameda creek has a huge flow and all the storm drains in Irvington lead to it. This means that all the oil spills and non biodegradable soap for car washes leads right into the bay killing of the trout and their food source. Another obstacle the trout face is are the various dams and the B.A.R.T tracks that cross their path. The trout have no way of getting around these obstacles so each year droves of volunteers must try to carry the trout over. Of course many trout do not get carried over and so die needlessly. Litter also became a major issue as people who walked through the park would often carelessly throw their garbage in the water. This pollutes the water source and hurts the trout’s food supply. The fry (baby trout) need relatively cool water and in the summer months
