On the 30 th of January, Brock University held an Encore! Production entitled Triptych. The group was founded in 1989 by a trio of accomplished musicians that have been said to amaze audiences with a unique style of music and has the potential to shock and awe the audience. Triptych consists of 3 members. Fiona Wilkinson plays the flute, James Mckay on the bassoon and Stephan Sylvestre playing the piano. They have appeared in many festivals and have had their concerts broadcasted on CBC, CJRT, and CFPL. The trio was positioned in the middle of the stage with the flute and bassoon in front of the piano. They were seated at the front and center of the stage for more clear and concise hearing of the instruments. The first half of the program consisted of three amazing pieces. My personal favourite was entitled Alborada del Gracioso (from Miroirs). The composer of the piece was Maurice Ravel and was played by Stephan Sylvestre. Joseph-Maurice Ravel was born on March 7, 1875 and died at the age of 62 on December 28, 1937. He was a
