Taylor Kitchen MUSI 1F10 The name of the concert I attended on the evening of Friday, November 21, 2008 at 7:30pm was called “Encore! Professional Concert Series.” The ensemble was the Canadian Guitar Quartet and is known as having a reputation as being one of the finest guitar ensembles in the world. The players of the Quartet include Patrick Roux, Philip Candelaria, Denis Donegani and Louis Trepanier. The guitarists were seated in the center of the stage in a simple fashion with 4 guitar players sitting in a semi-circle. They were seated at the front of the stage for more clear and concise hearing of the guitars. The fifth piece of the night was Ludwig Van Beethoven’s (1770 – 1827) “Minuet and Allegro, Op. 59, no.3” that was arranged by Denis Donegani, one of the guitarists of the Quartet. The piece was meant to be played for a string quartet, but Donegani arranged it for the guitar quartet. The piece seemed very complex, stayed on rhythm and was played allegro, which I really felt kept the suspense throughout the song. The melody
