Real resistor Also has capacitance or/and inductance. Sources: material itself (carbon) A capacitor basically selects particular frequencies from a signal with many frequencies. Real capacitor An inductor stores energy in a magnetic field created by the electric current passing through it. Real inductor There are two possible approaches in circuits: Time Domain Frequency Domain Time Domain Differential equation with solution: Calculates voltage or current while the capacitor is charging or discharging also = I Time Domain Charged capacitor: RC discharge waveform: Frequency Domain Resonant freq formula Uses complex algebra: j 2 = 1 time vs. frequency L C Formulas for impedance Impedance is a measure of the overall opposition of a circuit to current: Z=V/I Basically, it is relationship between voltage and current which a device is capable of accepting or delivering. Resonance is the tendency of a system to oscillate at larger amplitude at some frequencies than at others. Self-resonance frequency (SRF) of an inductor or capacitor is the point where it ceases to function as an inductor or capacitor....
