DESIGN OF A CONCRETE MIX - Design a concrete mix for the following conditions and constraints using the absolute volume method: Group No. 3 Size 20 mm). -Use non air entrained concrete -Using less than 15 sample test results -Use cement type 1 -Coarse aggregate: Crushed, specific gravity= 2.68, oven dry density= 1654 kg/m 3 , Absorption to saturated surface dry condition = 1.6%. -Fine aggregate: Oven dry specific gravity = 2.62, Absorption to saturated surface dry condition = 2.1%, fineness modulus = 2.55. -There are no admixtures added.

1- Strength requirements: Since it is less than 15 sample tests. We are going to use the following table: f‘c = 35 Mpa f‘cr = f‘c+ 8.5 f‘cr = 35+8.5= 43.5Mpa f‘cr = 43.5Mpa 2- Water- Cementitious Materials ratio: Using Strenght requirments (table 7.1). W/C= 0.41(43.5-41) * (0.41-0.33)= 0.38 (48-41) water-cementitious materials ratio= 0.38 3- Coarse aggregate requirements: Our Coarse aggregate sample is acceptable = 20mm (Table 7.5) 19mm maximum size coarse aggregate and 2.55 FM fine aggregate.
