RISK ASSESSMENT 2 Risk Assessment The first step involved in a risk assessment for adverse health effects on the pesticide Milathion would be to make a hazardous identification. In other words it is important to discover whether the use of this pesticide will cause adverse health effects. The pesticide may work with little or no side effects but who knows what will happens in the future. Not only for the wildlife living in the wetlands, but the surrounding community as well. According to the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry there is no conclusive study showing the long- term effects of the pesticide Milathion. It is clear that the pesticide is harmless after about a week after contact, but it is unclear of what constant long-term use may have effects on. If it cannot be clear what this pesticide is doing to this community, or the wildlife and its habitat, I do not see how choosing this option would be safe, or smart. Although not choosing this option could lead to fatalities in the near future, rather than further down the road. If there could be a determination on the long-term adverse health effects, making the decision to choose Milathion would be far more confident.
