1 OVER EE 3750 — Homework 5 due Wed., December 3, 2008 For all problems: state any assumptions made; include comments as needed to make assembly instruction sequences clear. 1. Write an interrupt service routine for an 8086 to output a byte of data from array green to device DEV9. Assume that word variable pointer holds the offset in green from which the next byte is to be output. The interrupt service routine should output only one byte on each interrupt from DEV9; if DEV9 has already output 800 bytes, however, then the interrupt service routine should not output at all. Let the address of the output data port of DEV9 be 5C1H. 2. Write an 8086 instruction sequence to program a single 8259A to operate as the only 8259A in the system and provide the following features. The lowest port address of the 8259 is 56H. • edge-triggered interrupts • a base interrupt vector number of 50H (i.e., vectors in range 50-57H) • no special fully nested mode • use buffered mode/master • AEOI mode disabled [Note: Problem 3 on back of page.]
