Lab Session #3 Diode Randall Robert Purpose: The purpose of lab 3 is to introduce the function of the diode and familiarize us with the use of the function generator and oscilloscope. Assembly: To begin the experiment we had to adjust the function generator to a 5 volt peak to peak triangular waveform at a frequency of 500Hz. Procedures: Diagram 1; Plot: What is the diode’s forward voltage? Vf = 0.7V When the diode stops conducting, what is the output voltage? Vout−off = -0.3V 1

The experimental results are extremely close to the theoretical 0.7 volts. What conditions affected your measurements? Having never used a oscilloscope before probably affected the accuracy of our measurements but they were still accurate. Also not having a numerical readout, meaning having to read the curves generated by the scope, probably tainted our measurements slightly. How accurate are your results? Extremely accurate. Did the experiment achieve its goal? Yes, I have learned the basics operations of a function generator, and have become a mediocre scope operator. How could the experiment be improved? The experiment was okay, but I would have liked to go over the operation of the scope in class. 4...
