Lab Session #7 – Diode Applications Randall Robert Purpose: To study the applications of diodes in logic circuits and as light emitters and detectors. Assembly: All circuits in the lab manual were assembled on the breadboard. The diagrams of the circuits are on page 7 this report. Procedures: 1. Construct an OR gate using diodes. What would happen if both inputs were high? An output high would be asserted. Sketch the output waveform when one input is “asserted high”. Notice that with an input voltage of 3V, when there is an input at either terminal 1 or 2, there is a voltage drop of approximately 0.7V due to the diode. Repeat the previous procedure with input 2 connected to the +5V supply on the breadboard. 1
