David Coffman Bus 101 Section HB 11/3/2011 Ford and Pinto The key stakeholders in this case are the owners and the consumers. The consumer’s interests are to drive a reliable car that does not get them killed in low speed rear end accidents. The consumer’s expect to get value out of the car they just purchased. The owners are interested in receiving a satisfactory return on their investments. If the cars aren’t functioning properly then that doesn’t bode well for the owners receiving satisfactory returns on their investment. The pinto car incident will have direct hits on Ford’s stock prices because of all the bad press and the payments they have to make to the families of the deceased. There not be a conflict in interest in this particular case depending what time you focus on. When it was discovered that the Pinto’s had this problem then the owners probably had a similar interest with the consumers. They both would want the cars off the road before any more damage could be done to the stock price and
