Process analysis -Every company has multiple ongoing processes: Accepting payments from customers. Hiring new employees. Manufacturing products. Reporting quarterly results Methods for companies to systematically review processes : Flowchart -Using symbols to show how a process is currently working or should be working. Symbols: Parallelogram - Input/output symbol; Rectangle - Processing symbol; Rhombus - Decision symbol; Arrow - is the flowline symbol; Race Track Oval - Start/Stop symbol. Swimlanes -Show which department or person is responsible for each part of a process. Displays which tasks are contingent upon other tasks. 80/20 Chart or Pareto Chart -Illustrates a common occurrence in that 80% of defects are usually caused by 20% of the problems. Shows the number of different types of defects. Shows where resources should be used to solve the greatest sources of defects. Ishikawa Diagram or Fishbone Diagram - it looks like a fishbone with the problem at the head , and causes along the spine Control charts - Line charts that plot:
