Demographic base of support -Urban population, -Supported by merchants, bankers, and manufacturers. -New England region -Rural Farmers -Supported by southern planters, small farmers, northern laborers. -Mainly in the Southern regions -Supported by the westerners Vision of the perfect economy saw industry and manufacturing as the best means of domestic growth and economic self- sufficiency. interventionistic economic policies -protecting the interests of the working classes— merchants, farmers, and laborers -an agrarian economy - laissez-faire economic policies Attitude toward the constitution -favored strict construction- a judge to apply the text only as it is written -favored loose interpretation “implied powers”.
