Julia Nan 2/16/08 Per. 2 Sparta and Athens – Two Cities from Different Planets Most people thought that two people resided in the same country would have the same believe and ideas. Well, that was definitely a negative for the ancient Greeks. Because the parts of Greece were so isolated in the ancient time, civilians developed differently among regions. Sparta and Athens were two significant cities that were almost the opposite from each other. Their government and the way of life were extremely different, yet the perception of women was the only similarity that remained. To begin with, the form of government was different between the two cities. Sparta accepted oligarchy, a type of government in which the person who had the most property and money rules land. However, the Spartans allowed some of the free people who were poor and low in the society to run parts of the government. On the contrary, people in Athens held a democratic government. Democracy is a form of government in which citizens decides how to rule the region. The Athenians didn’t
