Five- factor model was developed by McCrae and Costa. The model stated that most personality traits are derived from five higher order traits: extraversion (positive emotion), neuroticism (negative emotion), openness to experience, agreeableness, and conscientiousness (constraint). He also proposed personality develop in stages 2. Freud’s psychodynamic theory attempted to explain behavior and personality by examine early childhood experiences, unconscious motives and conflicts, and people’s sexual desires. He also divided personality into three structural components: id, ego, and superego. 3. Jung called his theory the analytical psychology. Like Freud’s theory, Jung focused the influence of unconscious thoughts on personality, but he proposed that the unconscious consists of only two layers, the personal unconscious, and the collective unconscious.
