14:20 "Ser" means " to be." Its present tense conjugation is as follows. Yo soy. I am. Tú eres. You are. Ella/él/usted es. She/he/you (formal) is. *"are" in the case of usted* Nosotros somos. We are. Vosotros sois. You (familiar, plural) are. Ellas/ellos/ustedes son. They/They/You (formal, plural) are.

Ser is generally used for anything that is permanent. Soy un hombre. I am a man. I can never be a dog, plant, or fork. I have always been a man and always will be. It is used for physical characteristics. Eres alto. You are tall. It is used to tell time. Son las once. It is eleven. "Estar" also means "to be." Yo estoy. Tú estás.

She/he/you (formal) is. Nosotros estamos. We are. Vosotros estáis. You are. Ellas/Ellos/ustedes son They/They/you are. Estar is generally used with things that are temporary. Estás feliz.
