Ø Faster than any other method of communication Ø Convenient Ø Easier to manage than paper documents Ø Managing contacts is easier to organize and quick Ø Can send multiple e-mails to numerous parties Points To Consider To Ensure An Effective Business E-mail Ø Subject Lines are just as important as the writing itself Ø Introductions or salutations still apply in business e- mails Ø Never assume that e-mail attachments are okay Ø Formatting should be as simple as possible Ø Be careful when using the helpful “CC” and “BCC” fields Keep E-mails Written Clearly Ø Use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar Ø Avoid sayings or phrases Ø Complete your sentences Ø Visualize your e-mail as if you were writing a document Ø Avoid the uses of :P, and abbreviations Responses and Tone Ø Response time is important so consider the recipient Ø Be careful of the tone in your e-mails Ø Avoid sentences that can be interpreted as a negative response Ø Avoid the use of bold or ALL CAPTALIZED LETTERS Consider The Culture When Writing An E-mail Ø Choose a formal or informal approach?
