Samantha Zid Frieda Mae Jones Assignment MGT 291, Mrs. Tibbetts 1/25/11 Frieda Mae Jones Case The specific problems in this case are the presence of racism and sexism in the workplace. Frieda fells that her boss babies her at her job at Industrialist World Bank of Boston. When she first started there were several other people starting at the same time and they all have gained more responsibilities than her. Frieda isn’t allowed to talk to customers on her own; her boss, Stan Luboda, always supervises her. Instead of giving her the freedom to grow as an employee she is constantly looked after. Stan infers that he is only trying to put his employees where they are best served, but that ends up meaning that she is behind the scenes and the white employees are dealing with customers. It seems like this is a norm within the workplace during these times and that employees are typically profiled by gender and race. Not only do people face these problems in the workplace, but also in their education. When Frieda was in high school she was top of her class, but her guidance counselor told her she would be best served in as a housekeeper. If Frieda were a white male her counselor would have given her applications to every college in the country. She again faced racism when she was
