Briefly, what is “The Labor Problem?” The labor problem revolves around several critical issues: Growing labor market Problems of low-wage workers trying to move out of poverty and support families Corporate pressures for cost control quality, and flexibility to compete in a global economy The need to educate individuals as lifelong learners due to changing technology Problems of work-life balance, especially for mothers In the early 1900’s laborers weren’t getting paid enough to have a good life and the working conditions were horrible Companies would hire workers for only one day sometimes Workers had no control over their job or their job tasks Police officers often worked in vermin-infested offices and were required to work more than 70 hours a week Workers were neither loyal or motivated 2. Briefly, what are the primary schools of thought on the labor problem and what is their proposed solution?
