Eleanore An Unique name: anjwe Date: 1/15/2012 Hw#1 Problem 1: - Ecological Footprint : Ecological footprint is the world’s premier measure of humanity’s demand on nature. It measures how much land and water area a human population requires to produce the resource it consumes and to absorb its carbon dioxide emissions, using prevailing technology. It measures how fast we consume resources and generate waste, compared to how fast nature can absorb our waste and generate new resources. *a - Water Footprint : It is an indicator of freshwater use that looks at both direct and indirect water use of a consumer or producer. The water footprint of an individual, community or business is defined as the total volume of freshwater that is used to produce the goods and services consumed by the individual or community or produced by the business. Water use is measured in terms of water volumes consumed (evaporated) and/or polluted per unit of time.
