Nicole Mazza Final Project November 16, 2011 The first topic I would like to explore in my paper would be patriarchy . There will be three aspects that I would like to explore first being males as the primary authority figure. In ways I will show this will be TV shows and quoting from Allan. G. Johnson, The Gender Knot: Unraveling Our Patriarchal Legacy , Chapter 1. Next I would like to talk about biological verses social theories involving patriarchy quoting from The Inevitability of Patriarchy by Steven Goldberg. Lastly, I would really like to go into the baby boom affecting patriarchy pulling quotes form New America publications. When we discussed this topic in class, it had to be the one I found the most interesting that we went into. I want to further study about it and write about some aspects. The second topic I would like to discuss is gender in the media. Again there are three main topics I will like to explore which are TV, Music, and movies. The three articles I would like to use would be Media and Gender Stereotyping by Maria McCornnel, Gender in the media by Dr. Stacy L. Smith and Amy D. Granados and lastly The Social Media Gender Gap by Auren Hoffman. This is something I can personally relate to, which is a huge reason why I want to discuss it in my paper. I feel like media surrounds our society and engulfs us and almost takes over our world as if nothing matters. We also get brain washed by it.
