Nicole Mazza Students in transition November 21, 2011 Before even coming to Rutgers University, I knew I wanted my major to be social work. Summer going into senior year I had to get a series of iron transfusions. Going into the hospital with both my parents on either side, I still was scared to death of needles. Sitting in the chair awaiting my first iron transfusion, a complete stranger came up to me and walked m through the process that I was about to go under. Seeing how much she helped me through such a hard time, I knew I wanted to go into a field where every day I would be helping people just like this complete stranger helped me. Even though I’m not enrolled in any Social Work classes here at Rutgers, I plan to major in it. So I chose Michael C. LaSala who is the director of the Masters of Social Work program here at Rutgers. He also specializes in clinical Social Work, which is the exact field that I want to go in.
