OUR PLACE IN SPACE: ASTRONOMY AND THE UNIVERSE                I. The 3rd Planet from the Sun               Looking at the Apollo photograph of the full Earth               Imagine all the grains of sand on all the world's beaches?             How important is one of those sand grains?             Is one more important than any other?   Imagine all of the suns in the universe and all of the planets. There are more of these  than the number of sand grains mentioned above.               How important is one of those planets?             Is one more important than any other?   This unit covers one of the great stories of western civilization It took 2,000 years, but it gave us our belief that we live in a rational universe It gave birth of modern science Ti involves our concept of our place in space
