Unformatted text preview: THE THIRD PLANET STUDY GUIDE #4 NATURAL DISASTERS What is the difference between natural earthquakes and induced earthquakes? Induced earthquakes come from areas of petroleum production. Triggered Earthquakes by putting water in the fault lines that mixed with the rocks making the rocks break and earthquakes occur. Where and along what geologic structures do natural Texas earthquakes occur? West Texas-Rio Grande Rift Panhandle Balcones Is there potential for a great earthquake in Texas? Why or why not? We are able to forecast but not predict earthquakes by looking at our records where earthquakes have occurred moving certain parts of the tectonic plates in certain area. Provided that the information is correct we are able to look along the fault line and predict where the next earthquake should occur when there hasnt been on in that area. predict where the next earthquake should occur when there hasnt been on in that area....
