Jessica Chin Meng Sun Shanna Su 1. How are traveling agencies attracting their customers? They could first set their efforts on building a reliable website. People of today’s generation rely heavily on the internet; therefore it is vital to maintain a website that is resourceful. Perhaps the website’s contents can be edited so that it will appear as one of the top results on Google when certain common key words are inputted into the search engine. Another method is advertising, through magazines or newspapers. They should probably focus on getting ads into magazines/newspapers their target audience most likely read. This will create an opportunity to get the traveling agency’s name out to the public. The traveling agency could also create a mailing list and allow customers to sign up (once a loyal customer base is established). They could then email newsletters and mail, sharing perhaps special travel deals to this select group of customers. This would create an incentive for other customers to sign up as well, in order to receive benefits. Customer demographics: Demographic trends suggest there will be an increase in the number of people who wish to take longer, more expensive trips. These type of people that best fit this are in the age groups 55-64 and 65-74. The 55-64 age group is growing at an average of 5% per year, and once the first Baby Boomer turns 65, the 65-74 age group will also grow at about 5% per year. Therefore, the prime target market for a leisure-oriented travel agency should be households ages 55-64. This group spends about $17 billion a year on travel-related goods and services. People in this group who have the highest income - $100,000 per year or more – spend an
