“Collapse , chapter 11 : One Island, Two peoples, Two Histories: The Dominican Republic and Haiti, by Jared Diamond” One Island, Two peoples, Two Histories: The Dominican Republic and Haiti is the topic of one of the chapters included in the book Collapse written by Jared Diamond. He did a comparative analysis of the Dominican Republic and Haiti , saying and claiming how two countries that share an island can have so many differences. How their political, economic, and ecological histories and changes have influenced these two countries that are the result of ups and down that occurred over the past years affecting their develop through the time . The DR and Haiti are two countries sharing an island, the two of them share colonialism histories and occupations, but have not achieving equal goals; Environmental problems do constrains human societies, but the society’s response is what make the differences ”. Haiti is the second poorest country in the world being slave of their destiny and DR is seen as a paradise what isn’t even close. Both are poor countries suffering with corrupt or weak governments, lower agricultural productivity and lack of many public services like water,
