Lab 2.1 Part I Copy the installation media to the host system 1. Login to your assigned classroom computer * If you are not physically sitting in front of your system use the TightVNC program to connect using the instructions found in this presentation <http://www.nl.northweststate.edu/COMMON/General/RemoteAccess.pdf> 2. Use a web browser to go to the URL http://www.nl.northweststate.edu/SharedStuff/ 3. When prompted for a user name enter in your email name (i.e. jbob) and MYNSCC password (you may have to enter it twice) 4. Open the ISO folder 5. Right click on the file Fedora-9-i386-DVD.iso and choose the option Save Link As... 6. If necessary, expand the browser by clicking on the small triangle directly to the left of the text Browse for other folders 7. Open your home directory by clicking on the folder that has your username in the Places section of the window 8. Double click on the folder VirtualMachines in the Name section at the lower right hand corner of the window 9. Click the Save button Part I will not be included in future lab instructions, it is your responsibility to know that you must connect to the host system and to know how to download a file. This section of the lab would normally be written as: * Download the file http://www.nl.northweststate.edu/SharedStuff/ISO/Fedora-9-i386-DVD.iso to your host system Part II Create the virtual machine 1. Start the VMWare Server Console program
