Lab 10.1 You will not directly access the proc or sysfs subsystems on a regular basis. Most of the changes we will make and statistics we will view in this lab are normally accessed through utilities and configuration files and not by directly manipulating files in the /proc or /sysfs directories. It is useful to know what is present in the /proc and /sysfs directories and how to change them. In some cases, like on the Android OS, you need to know how to change and view these entries directly since many of the commonly used GNU utilities are not installed. Part I View general system statistics 1. Read pages 242 - 249 in your book 2. Start up your FC9 system 3. Access a virtual terminal and login as root 4. Change your pwd to/proc with the command cd /proc 5. View information about the CPU with the command cat cpuinfo 6. View information about the mounted file system with the command cat mounts 7. Compare this information to the output of the mount command by typing the command mount 8. View information about the partitions on the system with the command
