Donald BOris Boris College of Agriculture Admissions Committee March 1 st 2011 College of Agriculture and Life Sciences “There is only one thing that can bring our nation down – our dependence on foreign countries for food and energy. Agriculture is the backbone of our economy” said John Salazar. This is a very true statement because without a nation’s agriculture it is dependent upon other nations which could jeopardize our country’s food supply. Agriculture is essential to our country remaining self sustaining. For the reasons above I have chosen Agriculture as my field of study, so that I can help our great nation prosper and not be at the mercy of other nations. I also enjoy agriculture and I believe that there is no other place better than Texas A&M to obtain an agriculture degree. My whole life I have been surrounded by agriculture from growing up on a farm, participating in rodeo and being extremely involved in Future Farmer’s of America (FFA). While in high school I served as an officer in FFA for three years and competed on Career Development
