Lauren B’Oris Period 1 Mrs.Gregg Drug Abuse Just about everyone knows someone who does drugs. “About 14.8 million people in America use illicit drugs,…”( Information Brief). People overdoes on drugs for many different reasons. Some people will use drugs because they think its cool. Others use drugs to escape from reality, so they won’t have to deal with their problems that they face. Usually people start off with drinking alcohol, and smoking, then later find themselves addicted to harmful, and serious drugs. A child is 65 percent more likely to grow up using marijuana if as a child they drank and smoked than a child who neither drank nor smoked. “Among high school seniors, one in four students report using illegal drugs on a monthly basis and over 8% report daily use.” (Information Brief). The most common illicit drug used is Marijuana, but many other dangerous drugs are used. “Approximately 43% of the population use illicit drugs, such as cocaine, heroin, crack,
