Homework 6 Due on November 18 2011, at the beginning of the review session A. Make an excel file. The purpose of this exercise is to generate 100 samples each with 10 items. Then find a number of different sample statistics and find their bias and mean square error. Specifically you will find two estimates of the mean: the sample mean and sample median. Also you will find two estimates of the variance: the sample variance and the similar statistic but dividing by (n+1) instead of (n-1). Then you will find the bias, variance, and mean square error of each estimator. Use the random number generator in Tools / Data analysis. Put 10 variables / 100 random numbers from the Poisson distribution in I16. They will fill I16 to R115. Use the last 2 digits of your UIN / 10 as lambda, i.e., if the digits are 39, use 3.9. Each row represents one sample of 10 items, and you have 100 samples. In columns to the left of the data put the following:
